Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a 2027 Summer Internship in our Washington D.C. office.

You will work alongside industry-leading experts to gain hands-on experience while applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. As an Intern, you will assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and design tasks, with opportunities to learn from licensed professionals in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled or plan to complete a MS in Civil, Structural, or Architectural engineering.
• Interest in civil/structural engineering, materials science, architecture, and architectural engineering.
• Maintain high grades and seek hands-on work experience in consulting engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, condition assessments and project drafting.
• Perform structural analysis, design work and site inspections under supervision.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance of existing structures and field tests.
• Organize field data and assist with research to facilitate analysis and repair design.
• Prepare client deliverables including construction documents, specs and reports.
• Travel may be required; work from heights as needed.
