Job summary

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a 2027 Summer Internship in our Houston, TX office. As an Intern, you will work side‑by‑side with industry‑leading experts in the office and in the field to gain hands‑on experience while applying classroom knowledge to real‑world challenges.

You'll collaborate on exciting structural engineering projects, conduct field tests and site visits, and help prepare client deliverables under licensed professionals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a civil and/or structural engineering degree.
• Maintain high grades in studies.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Work on structural engineering projects including building evaluations and designs.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers on reconnaissance, field tests, and monitoring.
• Organize field data and assist with research to support analysis and repair design.
• Perform analysis under licensed professionals using hand calculations and software.
• Assist with preparation of client deliverables, including drawings, specifications, calculation packages, and reports.
• Travel and work in the field on construction sites.
