Job summary

Hire Consulting Services is recruiting on behalf of a client, a manufacturer of temperature sensors and precision assemblies, for a Senior Engineering Manager role in Buffalo, NY. You will lead product design engineering from customer requirements through design validation and production release, guiding technical decisions and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Progressive product design engineering experience with complex design decisions.
• Leadership experience managing people and multiple projects.
• Strong command of mechanical design, CAD, GD&T, materials, and verification.
• Clear communicator with customers, sales teams, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team, set priorities, allocate resources, and manage project commitments.
• Provide hands-on technical direction for product architecture, materials selection, tolerances, and verification.
• Lead design reviews and mitigate technical risks before release.
• Translate customer performance and interface requirements into engineering specs and validation plans.
• Oversee drawings, BOMs, design calculations, engineering changes, and controlled product release.
• Collaborate with sales and customers on technical feasibility and proposals.
• Work with manufacturing and quality to improve manufacturability and support new product introductions.
• Mentor engineers and establish consistent design and project management practices.
