Job summary

Red Seal Recruiting Ltd. is assisting a manufacturer of temperature sensors, compression seal fittings, and cable assemblies in filling a Senior Engineering Manager role in Buffalo, NY.

The position requires leading product design engineering from customer requirements through validation and production release. You will guide engineers, review detailed designs, manage priorities, and collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and quality to improve manufacturability and ensure high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Progressive product design engineering experience with responsibility for complex technical decisions.
• Engineering leadership experience managing people and multiple projects.
• Strong command of mechanical design, CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, and verification methods.
• Ability to guide engineers through difficult design problems and communicate with customers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team, establish priorities, allocate resources, and manage project commitments.
• Provide hands-on technical direction for product architecture, mechanical design, materials selection, tolerances, and design verification.
• Lead design reviews; challenge assumptions and resolve technical risks before release.
• Translate customer requirements into clear engineering specifications and validation plans.
• Oversee drawings, bills of materials, design calculations, engineering changes, and controlled product release.
• Collaborate with sales and customers on technical feasibility, proposals, and custom product solutions.
• Work with manufacturing and quality to improve manufacturability and address field or production issues.
• Build engineering capability through coaching and clear technical standards.
