Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks Engineer Intern Applicant- Engineer Intern 2 to support bridge and structural design, bridge preservation, load rating, plan development, and technical support for transportation infrastructure projects in Jefferson Parish.

No prior engineering experience is required; training is provided, with opportunities for career progression through the Engineering job series.

Qualifications

Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.

Responsibilities

Assists with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
Reviews or prepares plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
Performs or assists with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
Provides technical support related to bridge rehabilitation, replacement, preservation, or new capacity projects.
Coordinates with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other internal or external partners.
Reviews bridge-related project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
Supports development or maintenance of design guidance, standards, procedures, or technical documents.
Assists with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
