Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks Engineer Intern Applicants to support construction project delivery, field engineering, and compliance reviews across District Parishes. Training is provided and advancement through the Engineering series is possible.

Temporary appointments exist while pursuing the Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Positions report to an Engineer Supervisor and may be filled at various Engineer Intern levels in designated parishes, with

Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering work related to construction project delivery, field engineering, or construction oversight.
Review plans, specifications, estimates, construction documentation, and project records.
Monitor or assist with review of contractor work for compliance with DOTD standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
Coordinate with contractors, project engineers, inspectors, consultants, and internal DOTD staff.
Review quantities, documentation, payments, work zone information, or project-related materials as assigned.
Support construction certification, eConstruction, fabrication, field documentation, or final audit activities.
Assist with resolving construction-related issues, technical questions, or project delivery concerns.
Support emergency or disaster response activities as needed.
