Job summary
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineer Intern Applicant – Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects in Jennings. Training is provided with opportunities for career progression through the Engineering job series.
No prior engineering experience is required — this temporary position develops essential construction delivery, inspection, and compliance skills under supervision of a Project Engineer.
Qualifications
- Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
- Temporary position to be utilized while securing Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate.

Responsibilities
- Perform engineering work related to construction project delivery, field engineering, or construction oversight.
- Review plans, specifications, estimates, construction documentation, and project records.
- Monitor or assist with review of contractor work for compliance with DOTD standards, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors, project engineers, inspectors, consultants, and internal DOTD staff.
- Review quantities, documentation, payments, work zone information, or project‑related materials as assigned.
- Support construction certification, eConstruction, fabrication, field documentation, or final audit activities.
- Assist with resolving construction‑related issues, technical questions, or project delivery concerns.
- Support emergency or disaster response activities as needed.
