Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Engineer to support bridge, structural, hydraulic, and drainage engineering activities that strengthen Louisiana’s transportation infrastructure. Positions are located in Jefferson Parish and report to Engineer 6-Supervisor.

Minimum qualifications include possession of a current Louisiana professional engineering license; applicants licensed elsewhere may obtain a Louisiana license before appointment.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering.
• If licensed in another state, must obtain Louisiana license prior to appointment.
• Louisiana Professional Engineer licenses issued by LAPELS; licensing requirements may be viewed at www.lapels.com.

Responsibilities

• Assists with bridge and structural design activities for transportation infrastructure projects.
• Reviews or prepares plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, and structural details.
• Performs or assists with bridge load ratings, structural evaluations, or bridge preservation activities.
• Provides technical support related to bridge rehabilitation, replacement, preservation, or new capacity projects.
• Coordinates with project managers, consultants, districts, construction staff, and other internal or external partners.
• Reviews bridge-related project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards.
• Supports development or maintenance of design guidance, standards, procedures, or technical documents.
• Assists with emergency response or technical reviews involving bridge or structural concerns.
