Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking an Engineer Embedded Software 3 in San Diego, onsite, to design, develop, integrate, and test embedded and real-time systems with a focus on cryptographic software.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment, applying a strong background in C/C++ and embedded systems. A Bachelor's in a STEM field and a DOD clearance are required, with Top Secret preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Engineering or STEM with 5 years related experience, Master's with 3, or PhD with 1.
• Proficient in C/C++ and cryptographic software libraries.
• Experience with Yocto/Petalinux or WindRiver Linux and Xilinx platforms.
• DOD Secret clearance required to start; Top Secret preferred.
• Experience with TCP/IP and real-time embedded systems.

Role Overview

We are seeking an engineer to support our Software and Digital Technologies department. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, and test embedded and real-time systems, with a focus on cryptographic software code bases. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams in an Agile software development environment to analyze system capabilities and resolve problems related to program intent and output requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software for end-user customers and businesses.
• Focus on the design, architecture, development, and administration of embedded and real-time systems.
• Work with Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams.
• Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and programming techniques.
• Integrate low-level firmware and software in complex real-time multi-threaded embedded applications.
• Develop and debug embedded real-time systems.
• Utilize Jira/Bitbucket/Git within an Agile software development process.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or another STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree with 3 years, or a PhD with 1 year of experience.

Technical Skills: Proficient in C/C++; familiarity with HAIPE, OTNK, and/or IKE; experience implementing cryptographic mechanisms using dedicated software libraries; experience with Yocto/Petalinux or WindRiver Linux; experience with Xilinx platforms (Zynq, Ultrascale+ and VERSAL); experience with TCP/IP and common network configurations; proficient in the formal software lifecycle process from requirements to testing.

Candidates must have an a DOD Secret clearance before beginning work on the program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
• Foundational knowledge with Rust.
• Experience with low-level driver development.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development/modifications.
• Proficiency with Linux containers (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
• Experience with RESTful Services.
• Experience with Software Defined Radios.
• Experience with the Avionics Operating System.
• Experience with Communication Protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with Xilinx tools (Vitis, Vivado).
• Familiarity with the latest NSA Security Standards.
• Familiarity with assembly language.
• Familiarity with bare metal embedded device drivers.
• Familiarity with PowerPC architectures and peripherals.
• Familiarity with IBM tools (Rhapsody, DOORS, Clearcase).
• Familiarity with Green Hills AdaMulti.
