Job summary

The YMCA of Central New York is seeking a Site Assistant to support after-school and vacation programs under the School Age Child Care Director. You will assist with arts, crafts, music, games, science activities, quiet time, and learning centers, while ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children aged 5 to 12.

Candidates should be at least 16, have reliable communication and organization skills, and tolerate a thriving team setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Substantial experience working with children under 13 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Site Coordinator in planning and developing lesson plans including arts, crafts, music and drama, games, sports and other activities.
• Observe and follow program guidelines and state regulations for child care services.
• Greet children and parents by name and extend thanks when appropriate.
• Promote and lead the School Age annual family event and retention initiatives.
• Be ready to work designated times and stay until all children leave.
• Complete required reports and maintain a clean, safe environment.
