Job summary

Jackson College invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach Energy Systems courses. Positions are part-time with teaching assignments varying per semester based on enrollment.

Candidates will evaluate student work, prepare materials, and facilitate class discussions, both in person and online. Minimum qualifications include a technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent, EIF certification with an associate degree, or relevant energy industry experience with appropriate licenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field is required or equivalent.
  • Alternative: Associate degree plus EIF certification or energy industry experience.
  • Alternative: Associate degree plus 3 years full-time energy experience.
  • Journeyman/Master Lineworker or electrician license is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in Energy Systems and evaluate student work.
  • Prepare syllabi and instructional materials for in-person or online formats.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Administer and grade exams and assignments.
  • Participate in reporting and student resource connections.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in technical field such as engineering, architecture, electronic technology or similar
Associate degree or higher in any field and EIF certification
Associate degree or higher in any field and 3 years full-time documented work experience in Energy industry
Journeyman or Master Lineworker, Electrician or similar professional license

Job description

Teach courses in Energy Systems based on instructor's qualifications.

Adjunct instructor positions are part-time. Teaching assignments will vary from semester to semester and are based on enrollment. Therefore, there may be semesters where no assignments are available.

Essential Functions
  • Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments and papers.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials (i.e. syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or on-line.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
  • Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Participate in required reporting processes (i.e. grades, participation, etc.).
  • Assist students in connecting to college resources.
Minimum Qualifications
EGY 101 Energy Industry Fundamentals
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in technical field such as engineering, architecture, electronic technology or similar OR
  • Associate degree or higher in any field and EIF certification OR
  • Associate degree or higher in any field and 3 years full-time documented work experience in Energy industry OR
  • Journeyman or Master Lineworker, Electrician or similar professional license.
Climbing Clinic EGY 110, EGY 111 Climbing Orientation, EGY 112 Climbing School
  • Journeyman or Master Lineworker or Electrician or similar professional license
Energy Industry Experience EGY 220
  • Bachelor of Science or higher with CEWD certification
