Job summary

East Texas A&M University is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach courses in Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and related fields. Job description

Summary

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course by course basis throughout an academic year.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the required discipline of Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or Technology Management. Instruction may be delivered on-campus, off-campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.

  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.

  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.

  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.

  • Assist/mentor students as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching field from an ABET accredited U.S. institution of higher learning with a major field of study in construction engineering, civil engineering, construction management, industrial engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, technology management, or a closely related discipline is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the teaching field from an ABET accredited U.S. institution of higher learning with a major field of study in construction engineering, civil engineering, construction management, industrial engineering, systems engineering, engineering management, technology management, or a closely related discipline is required to teach graduate courses.
  • Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education / Skills / Experience
  • Candidates who hold current relevant professional credentials.
  • College or University teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
