Job summary

The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) seeks a talented Director to lead the Office of Energy and Sustainability. You will develop programs to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, overseeing energy purchasing, performance contracting, and sustainable procurement for state agencies.

You will secure funding, manage the office budget, and provide cross-agency leadership to advance Maryland's climate and energy goals, including EV infrastructure and decarbonization efforts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing sustainability initiatives in a large public-sector agency or complex organization.
• Experience with setting strategy, managing budgets, leading staff, and evaluating operations to meet emissions goals.
• Ability to present to executives and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee programs to cost-effectively reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions.
• Oversee energy procurement, performance contracting, and sustainable purchasing initiatives.
• Lead and manage staffing, budget, and funding for the Office of Energy and Sustainability.
