Job summary

Willdan is seeking a Construction Project Engineer II to provide technical and field coordination for energy retrofit and infrastructure builds in New York. You will verify constructibility, performance, and adherence to scope, budget, and schedule, with supervision from a Project Manager or Construction Manager.

Role requires hands-on experience with steam plants, heating and hot water systems, chilled water, and building controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years of mechanical plant operations, construction, or project coordination.
• Knowledge of steam boilers, heating, hot water, chilled water, piping, and building controls.
• Experience coordinating work on occupied institutional or multifamily sites; NY/CUNY or NYCHA exposure preferred.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and coordinate with designers and leadership.
• Proficiency in standard office software; familiarity with WES/Procore a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical reviews and recommend solutions within delegated authority.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals, and existing conditions for scope gaps and conflicts.
• Provide input for boiler, steam, chilled water, hot water, and controls work; coordinate among disciplines.
• Monitor progress against design assumptions, field conditions, and utility interfaces.
• Identify issues affecting cost, schedule, or performance; document and seek direction.
• Coordinate RFIs and submittals; ensure resolutions are reflected in field work.
