Job summary

Willdan Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead multiple concurrent energy retrofit and design-build projects in commercial, institutional, and public facilities in California.

You will direct Construction Managers, superintendents, and field staff, ensuring safe, on-schedule, and profitable project delivery. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of progressive construction management experience, knowledge of GMP/ESCO processes, and strong leadership, communication, and budgeting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of progressive construction management experience on complex mechanical, electrical, and energy projects; lead multiple projects or managers.
• Hands-on implementation experience; direct ESCO experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction phase of energy retrofit and design-build projects; direct field staff and managers.
• Establish project organization at kickoff with clear roles, reporting lines, and escalation paths.
• Set performance expectations, monitor, and coach staff; ensure safety culture on sites.
• Drive project costs, schedules, and change management; ensure timely forecasting and billing.
• Direct bid processes, subcontractor scope, and acceptance of work per contract.
• Ensure work conforms to specifications and contract documents; implement QA/QC procedures.
• Own project schedules, progress tracking, and recovery plans for delays.
• Communicate risks and issues to leadership with recommended actions.
• Lead turnover, commissioning, M&V support, and closeout activities.
• Contribute to standards, templates, and procedures; support business development.
