Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Project Intern to support active energy generation projects across wind, solar, battery storage, and combustion turbine facilities. The role combines office work with on-site construction activities, guided by experienced project professionals.

The internship runs with a May 31, 2027 start date and may extend based on performance and business needs. This is a hybrid in-person opportunity requiring in-person site visits and collaboration with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027).
• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university pursuing Electrical or Civil Engineering.
• Travel will be expected if projects are in construction.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part time during the school year (16 hours/week), commuting to the designated work location in-person per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Support project tracking, reporting, and documentation for MPG-FA projects.
• Participate in field visits to observe construction sites and safety practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors.
• Learn project development and construction processes for wind, solar, battery storage, and combustion turbine facilities.
• Complete tasks under supervision following established procedures.
