Job summary

Perkins Coie LLP is seeking highly motivated mid-level associates for its Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice group. This premier opportunity focuses on electric market design, energy transactions and FERC regulatory work, spanning PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT and CAISO.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years of energy law experience, a JD from an accredited law school, and admission to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of energy law experience, regulatory and transactional preferred.
• Familiarity with the Federal Power Act and power market mechanics.
• Ability to draft bespoke energy contracts.
• JD from an accredited law school and bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Strong written and oral advocacy and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft power purchase agreements and energy service agreements.
• Advise on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs (PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO).
• Represent clients before FERC and advise on compliance and policy.
• Counsel clients on emerging energy policy and decarbonization strategies.
