Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Energy Procurement Operations (EPO) team manages energy supply contracts and ensures regulatory compliance while optimizing the world’s largest renewables portfolio.

The Energy Operations Manager will coordinate contract onboarding, analyze performance, and drive improvements across markets, reporting to stakeholders and collaborating with AWS business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required.
• 5 years working in utility/energy industry in North America, in asset/contract management, settlements, market operations or similar role.
• 3-7 years managing cross-functional projects, initiatives and teams.
• MBA/MS preferred.
• Experience in supplier management, contract management, or managing commercial relationships with vendors or customers.
• Experience managing large datasets and building audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
• Prior experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements in manual processes.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and tracking project timelines and milestones.
• Experience developing or leading the development of automated tools.
• The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the assigned portfolio of energy agreements and renewable power purchase agreements.
• Act as a subject matter expert on executed energy agreements in designated markets, and own the management of the contractual obligations with counterparties.
• Report and analyze performance in assigned portfolio, identifying impacts to our business units and our customers.
• Support the management of the on-boarding process for new contracts with a large number of counterparties. Track progress and drive for successful completion.
• Take part in shaping and implement the EPO programs (including contract management, financial performance and energy compliance with external and internal stakeholders) to meet the org’s goals and success metrics.
• Plan and drive execution of initiatives to improve our energy operations. Continuously seek to invent and simplify in order to achieve further scale effect for Amazon’s management of its energy portfolio.
• Work collaboratively with other AWS and Amazon teams to support the management of the energy programs.
