Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP is seeking highly motivated mid-level associates to join the Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice group. This role focuses on the intersection of digital infrastructure and energy transition, drafting bespoke energy contracts and advising on regulatory and transactional matters.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years of energy law experience, familiarity with the Federal Power Act, and admission to practice in the jurisdiction of the office location.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in energy law, preferably regulatory and transactional
• Familiarity with the Federal Power Act and power market mechanics
• Ability to draft bespoke energy contracts
• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the jurisdiction of the office location

Responsibilities

• Negotiate power purchase agreements and energy service agreements for developers, utilities and corporate buyers
• Advise on complex electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs (PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO)
• Represent clients before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
• Counsel on emerging energy policy, renewable integration and carbon-free procurement strategies
