Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP is seeking a highly motivated counsel-level attorney to join our Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice group. You will lead high-stakes matters at the nexus of large-scale digital infrastructure and the energy transition, managing complex transactions with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements and interconnection arrangements, advising on PJM/MISO/CAISO markets, handling FERC filings, and contributing

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in energy law.
• Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of the office location or eligible to waive in.
• JD from an accredited law school.

Responsibilities

• Lead Data Center Power Transactions: take the first chair in drafting and negotiating bespoke power purchase agreements, energy service agreements, and complex interconnection arrangements for developers, utilities and corporate buyers.
• Market Design & RTO/ISOs: advise on complex electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs (PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO) including capacity market mechanisms and interconnection policies.
• FERC regulatory: represent clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and advise on compliance with market-based rate programs, qualifying facilities and exempt wholesale generators.
• Federal energy policy: counsel clients on emerging energy policy, renewable energy integration, and carbon-free energy procurement strategies.
• Practice development: participate in client relationship management and thought leadership in digital energy infrastructure and energy transition.
• Mentorship: provide guidance to associates within PEER; ensure quality of work and professional development.
