Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern in Chicago, IL to support our Energy & Industrial Group on a variety of projects including power plants, industrial facilities, and energy systems. You will work on system designs, calculations, drawings, and technical specs under senior engineers.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, with strong academics in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer, and good

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar (preferred graduation Winter 2027 or Spring 2028).
• Strong academic background in mechanical systems analysis (thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer).
• Good verbal and written communication skills with strong PC skills.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of system designs.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of technical specifications, evaluation of bid packages, and review of vendor drawings.
• Work on project reporting tasks such as tracking progress and data.
