Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Chicago to apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant and oil & gas projects. You will size equipment, develop piping systems, and prepare isometric drawings and specifications.

You will work in teams to review technical bids, travel to client sites for reviews, and contribute to design deliverables; a hybrid schedule requires in-office work 3 days per week in the Chicago area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or similar.
• Experience with CAD software, such as AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical and numerical computation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations to size equipment, piping, valves and inline components.
• Prepare technical specifications and perform technical bid reviews.
• Prepare technical studies and reports to support client reviews.
• Prepare Piping & Instrumentation drawings, equipment lists, line lists, valve lists and material lists.
• Coordinate with mechanical system designers to develop Isometric drawings and pipe supports.
