Job summary

Whitley Penn, a leading audit, tax, and advisory firm, seeks an Energy-AC Senior Associate to manage and review accounting engagements for clients in the Energy sector. The role requires planning, supervising associates, and ensuring GAAP compliance within oil and gas contexts.

You will oversee daily processes, prepare financial statements, and communicate effectively with clients, while coordinating monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting cycles.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in Energy accounting and analysis.
• Oil & Gas Accounting Knowledge specifically Upstream/E&P experience required.
• BA or Master’s in accounting or financial management.
• CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of technology and accounting programs.
• Familiar with GAAP as it relates to Oil & Gas Accounting.
• Familiarity with ARO, Depletion, Impairment, and other industry-specific calculations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
• Proficiency in O&G Accounting Software (OGsql, Wolfepak, Quorum On-Demand Accounting).
• Strong research, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute client engagements and assignments, supervising and training associates.
• Review and prepare financial documents and reports for clients.
• Monitor and ensure monthly accounting cycles are accurately recorded.
• Coordinate revenue and other monthly accounting processes.
• Maintain professional client communications and relationships.
