Job summary

Whitley Penn is seeking a senior-level Oil & Gas Upstream accounting leader in Houston. You will work closely with the Energy practice Market Leader to develop tools, systems, and processes for Upstream accounting clients.

You will oversee the Oil and Gas Accounting group operations, including supervision of associates, planning, scheduling, and staffing, to meet client goals and objectives. Strong GAAP knowledge and implementation experience are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Oil & Gas accounting experience, Upstream/E&P.
• Experience setting up accounting functions and implementation.
• Proficiency with OGsys (OGsql/OGpro) and WolfePak.
• BA or Master’s in accounting; APA preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge in Oil & Gas upstream accounting.

Responsibilities

• Develop tools, systems, and processes for Oil & Gas Upstream accounting.
• Oversee Oil and Gas Accounting group operations, including supervision of staff and client relationship management.
• Set up and implement accounting functions for O&G Upstream accounting.
• Develop client service plans and ensure delivery aligns with firm standards.
• Identify and research technical issues to ensure compliance with rules and standards.
• Monitor budgets and manage WIP; prepare invoices and assist in collections.
