Northwell Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team in New York. This role functions as the scrub member under the guidance of an RN, preparing rooms, equipment, and supplies for procedures.

You will pass instruments to physicians, assist in patient prep, and ensure proper specimen handling and lab transport. Strong knowledge of endoscopy supplies and medical terminology is required.

Formación

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of endoscopy supplies, equipment and instruments from Surgical Technology Program.
• Demonstrated understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills to understand directions and provide information.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in room prep for procedures by assembling and checking equipment and supplies.
• Assist RN in preparation of patients to ensure comfort and safety.
• Set up instruments and supplies for assigned procedure.
• Assist procedure team by passing required instruments to physician.
• Identify, with RN, intra-procedure medication, dosage and labeling of all solutions and drugs.
• Collaborate with physician and RN in proper specimen identification and care.
• Assist in clean-up of procedure suite between cases including disposal of contaminated waste and terminally cleaning of instruments; operate Steris.
• Replenishes special supplies, as needed.
• Care for special instruments and equipment.
• Assist in returning unused supplies to proper place.
• Assist in bringing specimens to lab.
