Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team during the intra-operative period. Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, you will perform scrub duties, maintain a sterile field, and prepare instruments and trays for scheduled procedures.

You will interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and perfusion staff to ensure patient safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• Zero to six months of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a sterile environment and aseptic technique.
• Maintains appropriate sterile/unsterile boundaries during surgery while functioning within a sterile field.
• Don sterile gown and gloves from a sterile area away from the main instrument table to prevent contamination.
• Ensures integrity of sterile packages before dispensing onto a sterile field and checks expiration dates.
• Communicates to the Circulating RN in a timely manner any outliers preventing the scheduled case from moving forward.
