Job summary

Washington Outpatient Surgery Center in Fremont, CA seeks a Charge Nurse to oversee the Endoscopy department, working with the nurse manager to manage daily operations, staffing, and equipment.

This role ensures efficient patient flow through preoperative, procedural, and recovery areas, while maintaining compliance with safety protocols and state requirements. The position is weekday-only, with no weekends or on-call, reflecting a strong work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in nursing from accredited program; Bachelor's preferred.
• Active RN California License.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
• 2 years Endoscopy experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
• Previous leadership/supervisor experience required.
• ASC experience preferred.
• Strong communication and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for the endoscopy department alongside the nurse manager.
• Coordinate room assignments, staffing, and equipment needs.
• Facilitate efficient patient flow through preoperative, procedural, and recovery areas.
• Coordinate with gastroenterologists, anesthesia, nursing staff, and other departments to minimize delays.
• Monitor procedure start times, room turnover, and schedule changes.
• Address operational challenges including delays, cancellations, staffing shortages, and equipment issues.
• Assist with staff breaks and coverage to maintain safe patient care.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and CMS/California requirements.
