Job summary

UNC Health Care is hiring a Clinical Support Technician II at UNC Hospitals Outpatient Center, Eastowne, Chapel Hill. The role supports professional caregivers, transports patients and equipment, maintains rooms, and handles clerical duties on a 40-hour work week.

The position requires nursing assistant certification, BLS, and one year clerical/customer service experience, with 3 months nursing assistant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy (Education)
• Fluent in English (language proficiency)
• Ability to develop computer skills (knowledge/abilities)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically review patient care documentation and report significant changes to nurse/physician.
• Perform clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information, verify/ revise orders, answer calls, transcribe orders, manage medical records.
• Provide administrative support including PI audits and data entry
• Support clinical duties: clean work areas, maintain equipment, troubleshoot software/hardware, transport patients and supplies, orient new staff and students
• Provide direct patient care as per plan of care (bathing, feeding, ambulation etc.) and monitor vital signs
• Reinforce patient teaching and distribute education materials
