Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced engineer for Challenger, EY’s program building the firm’s next generation of AI-enabled services. You will own product slices end-to-end, from user conversations to production code, balancing speed with reliability and accessibility.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to shape AI behavior, design evaluations, and measure impact while traveling up to 50% in a hybrid environment across US offices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• End-to-end delivery from concept to adoption.
• Technical breadth across frontend, backend, API, data, and cloud.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, retrieval, tools, or similar AI patterns.
• Telemetry, debugging, reliability, incident response, and performance improvement ownership.
• User-centered collaboration with designers and product leaders.

Responsibilities

• Start with the user and understand real workflows with domain experts.
• Test assumptions quickly with concise specifications, prototypes, and small releases.
• Own complete product slices across experience, services, data, AI behavior, and enterprise integrations.
• Shape AI behavior with instructions, context design, retrieval, and tool use based on evidence.
• Build an evidence system with representative tasks and automated evaluations.
• Instrument user journeys to relate adoption to system behavior, latency, failures, and cost.
• Engineer for responsible use with clear permission boundaries, data handling, and rollback capabilities.
• Release incrementally, monitor live behavior, and turn failures into durable product improvements.
• Balance experience, quality, speed, reliability, and cost with deterministic approaches when appropriate.
• Share proven components and evaluation assets across the platform.
