Job summary

Lerch Bates is seeking a Design Studio Architect to lead architectural design projects focused on building enclosure systems, restoration, and new construction consulting. You will manage projects from concept through construction administration, collaborating with clients, engineers, and teams to deliver code-compliant, constructible solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering is required.
Licensed Architect preferred; NCARB AXP/ARE pursuit encouraged.
4–8 years of experience in architectural design and building enclosure consulting.
Experience developing construction documents from schematic design through construction administration.
Knowledge of building enclosure systems (roofing, waterproofing, curtain walls, glazing, cladding).
Strong understanding of applicable building codes and construction practices.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and specification software.
Excellent technical writing, communication, presentation, and client relations skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Professional certifications in building science or related fields are a plus.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

Manage architectural design and project execution from concept through construction administration.
Define project scope, schedule, budgets, and technical objectives with teams.
Serve as primary client contact and present design solutions.
Coordinate multiple projects while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
Support bidding, construction administration, and project closeout.
Develop high-quality construction documents and specifications.
Design and coordinate building enclosure systems for various project types.
Apply expertise in roofing, waterproofing, curtain walls, glazing, and air barriers.
Conduct building code research and coordinate product selection with manufacturers.
Produce deliverables using AutoCAD, Revit and specification development tools.
Perform technical reviews and quality control throughout the design process.
Collaborate with team members to develop integrated design solutions.
Mentor junior staff and contribute to design standards and best practices.
Assist with workflow planning, staffing, and process improvements.
Support proposal development and client meetings.
