Job summary

Lerch Bates is seeking a Building Enclosure Consultant to join our Building Science team in Raleigh. You will lead assessments, design reviews, commissioning support, and QA activities across new and existing buildings.

You will work with owners, architects, contractors, and project teams to improve durability and performance of enclosures, manage projects, and mentor staff in a collaborative, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in building enclosure consulting, architecture, engineering, construction, or related field.
• Strong understanding of enclosure systems including roofing, waterproofing, facades, fenestration, and barriers.
• Experience reviewing construction documents, technical specifications, and shop drawings.
• Excellent technical writing, report preparation, and presentation skills.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and project teams.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, WUFI, THERM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead building assessments and investigations for enclosure performance.
• Review construction documents and identify risk areas.
• Evaluate roofing, waterproofing, facades, fenestration, and air/vapor barriers.
• Develop repair, rehabilitation, and asset-management recommendations.
• Support commissioning and testing; coordinate QA/QC activities.
• Manage multiple projects and mentor teammates.
