Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Maple Grove, MN is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to determine donor eligibility and oversee donor safety during plasma donation. You will review medical history, lab results, and consent processes to ensure compliance and protect donors.

As part of a Takeda subsidiary, you will support center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance, participate in vaccination programs, and contribute to a safe, compliant donation environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• CPR and AED certifications required.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues affecting donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS as needed.
