Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, part of Takeda, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to assess donor eligibility, review test results, and manage donor safety in a fast-paced plasma center. You will work under the Center Manager and Physician guidance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and BioLife/EHS policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalence of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies following SOPs and Center Physician guidance.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER; assist EHS as needed.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
