Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, following SOPs and regulatory guidance. Requirements include a state license/certification (EMT-B/A/I/P or LPN/LVN or RN), CPR/AED, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program with state requirements
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B,A,I,P or LPN/LVN or RN
• Current CPR and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing and SPE review
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and donor transport
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues
• Support vaccination programs for employees as applicable
• Manage employee incidents and refer to EHS guidance
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations
