Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist in Bloomington, IN. You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, manage donor adverse events, and support center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Requirements include EMT/paramedic or RN/LPN licensure, CPR/AED, and at least two years in a clinical setting. You will participate in vaccination programs and follow EHS guidance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs; follow center physician standing orders and donor transport protocols.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support employee vaccination programs (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents per EHS guidance; participate in pandemic coordination when authorized.
