Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Addison, IL is seeking a Medical Support Specialist with EMT/nursing credentials to ensure donor safety and assist the plasma donation process. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, and support medical operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

This role involves handling donor adverse events, complying with regulatory standards, and contributing to vaccination programs and safety initiatives within a fast-paced center.

Qualifications

• EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-P or RN/LPN with valid state license.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage emergencies including transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues and donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with Occupational Health/ER and EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support related investigations.
