Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Onalaska, WI is hiring a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, and review lab results under physician guidance.

The role requires healthcare licenses (RN/LPN/EMT) and current CPR/AED certification, with prior clinical experience. You will engage in donor safety, vaccination program support, and adhere to FDA training requirements, reporting to the Center Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program.
• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities are assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training requirements.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and center standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues and donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health review; escalate per EHS guidance.
• Potential Pandemic Coordinator role when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations within the local community.
