Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations and ensure donor safety. EMT-based clinical assessment and patient care experience will help you screen donors and respond to adverse events.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, participate in donor testing reviews, and help maintain compliance while providing compassionate care and education to donors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state for EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage emergencies including center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical/technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS.
• Potential Pandemic Coordinator role when authorized by EHS.
