Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, and respond to donor safety needs under the supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Responsibilities include evaluating donor reactions, managing medical emergencies, and supporting vaccination programs, with a focus on safe, compliant donor care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with completion of an approved nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B/A/I/P, LPN/LVN, or RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician Standing Orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees where applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with EHS for evaluation as needed.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator as authorized by EHS and assist with investigations.
