Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services seeks Medical Support Specialist in Lafayette, LA. You will determine donor eligibility, monitor safety, review test results, and communicate with physicians to ensure donor well-being during plasma donation operations.

This role involves following SOPs, supporting vaccination programs, and coordinating with center leadership to maintain high standards of care. Candidates typically bring EMT licensure, CPR/AED certification, and at least two years in a clinical setting;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program completion as applicable.
• Licensed or certified EMT in the responsible state (B/A/I/P), LPN/LVN, or RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility with informed consent, medical history, and screening.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for complex issues or guidance.
• Support vaccination programs (Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu) for employees.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance; assist investigations as needed.
• Potentially serve as Pandemic Coordinator as authorized by EHS/Medical Affairs.
