Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda company, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Lafayette, LA to support plasma center operations, determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory results.

You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, with responsibilities including vaccination program support and incident management, requiring EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, and IV therapy knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and a recognized nursing education credential.
• Must be licensed/certified as EMT-Paramedic in the state of responsibility.
• Current CPR and AED certifications required.
• Meet state IV therapy requirements where licensed.
• Complete FDA-approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years of clinical or hospital work experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including Center Physician orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support employee vaccination programs (Hepatitis B, Seasonal Flu) as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents with Occupational Health/EHS as guidance; act as Pandemic Coordinator if authorized.
• Provide center-level EH&S support as directed.
