Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (EMT) in Waite Park, MN. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, manage adverse events, and support plasma center operations under the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs, manage medical emergencies, and coordinate with Center Physician for guidance.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health/EHS for further evaluation.
• Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
