Job summary

NorthWest EMS is seeking an experienced Assistant EMS Chief to lead the operations shift in McKees Rocks, PA. You will supervise crew, coordinate staffing and training, and manage day-to-day administrative functions.

The role demands a BS, 3–5 years ALS EMS experience and supervisory background, PA paramedic or NRP/PHRN, and strong decision-making under pressure. On-call duties apply; you may respond as ALS provider when not in administration.

Qualifications

• Three to five years EMS experience as an ALS provider.
• Three to five years supervisory or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of EMS operations and pre-hospital care.
• Valid, insurable driver’s license; PA Paramedic certification or NRP/PHRN; BLS/CPR/AED.

Responsibilities

• Administer day-to-day operations of the operations division during assigned shift.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, payroll, accounting, and HR functions.
• Manage expenses, training, and overall administrative operations.
• Provide direction and oversight to all personnel during shift; ensure attendance.
• Ensure operational readiness of stations, apparatus, staff, and equipment.
• Oversee major incidents (mass casualty, MVC, structure fires).
• Provide Advanced Life Support to patients; support EMS crews with protocols.
• Provide counseling, remediation, and discipline as needed.
• Issue training classes during shift; ensure compliance with medical protocols.
• Provide accurate reporting to senior staff.
• When not admin, function as an ALS field provider.
