Job summary

Cole County Emergency Services seeks an EMS Operations Battalion Chief, a full-time, non-exempt leadership role reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations. This position coordinates and supervises EMS personnel to ensure operational readiness and high-quality service across Cole County.

Responsibilities include on-scene coordination, staff scheduling, policy adherence, training oversight, and performance evaluations, with emphasis on safety, communication, and incident command during

Qualifications

• Associates degree required.
• Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
• Board certification within one (1) year of hire (CCEMTP, FP-C, CCP-C).
• One (1) year experience in an EMS supervisory role preferred.
• Two (2) year previous experience as an EMS Field Training Officer (FTO) preferred.
• Three (3) years previous experience as a paramedic preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responds to EMS calls and assists with coordination of patient care and manage on-scene EMS operations.
• Observe the performance of assigned EMTs and Paramedics and keep the Training Division appraised of all concerns regarding quality improvement and patient care.
• Ensures that Cole County EMS policies and standards are adhered to.
• Continuously evaluates EMS operational readiness, effectiveness of service, as well as overall outcomes.
