Job summary

Nash County, NC seeks an accomplished executive to direct the Emergency Medical Services Department. The role leads administrative, operational, and supervisory functions and serves on the county leadership team to align EMS with county goals.

Responsibilities include setting department goals, policies, budgets, staffing plans, and compliance with standards. The position also coordinates with county offices and community partners, and participates in major emergency response when needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college with a degree; master's preferred.
• 8-10 years progressively responsible EMS experience, 3-5 years supervisory.
• Valid North Carolina Paramedic Certification and ability to obtain required certifications.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership and manage the EMS Department's overall administration, operations, performance, and service delivery.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and long-range plans; establish budgets and monitor expenditures.
• Lead through subordinate supervisors; recruit, develop staff, manage performance, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Collaborate with the County Manager's Office on policy, budget, capital needs, and strategic priorities.
• Coordinate with fire, rescue, emergency communications, and external partners; participate in major emergencies as needed.
• Maintain records, reports, and quality assurance metrics; drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
