Job summary

Cole County Emergency Services is seeking an EMS Operations Battalion Chief to lead daily EMS activities, supervise personnel, and ensure readiness and high-quality patient care. This full‑time, hourly leadership role reports to the Deputy Chief of Operations and drives training and compliance across the division.

The ideal candidate will have strong EMS leadership, board certification, and experience as an EMS supervisor or FTO, with readiness to manage complex operations and interagency

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; Bachelor's preferred in relevant field.
• Board certification within one year of hire is required.
• EMS supervisory experience and prior FTO or paramedic experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain Cole County Pre-Hospital Provider Certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise EMS personnel to ensure readiness and quality service.
• Oversee on-scene EMS operations and patient care coordination.
• Monitor policy adherence, performance, and safety protocols.
• Conduct coaching, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
• Manage scheduling, fatigue assessments, and log maintenance.
