Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Mounds, IL is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to join a fast-paced, 24/7 operations center. You will receive calls, collect location data, determine priority using approved protocols, and coordinate ambulance resources as needed.

Candidates should hold a high school diploma (GED accepted) and relevant EMS dispatch certification when available. Training is provided; CPR may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• EMS dispatcher certification preferred where available.
• CPR certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources as needed.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responders.
• Document call processing and participate in quality reviews.
