Job summary

County Emergency Communications in Missouri is seeking an Emergency Medical Dispatcher to handle urgent medical calls, verify location and contact details, and coordinate EMS resources from a central console. Responsibilities include following protocols, providing instructions, optimizing response priority, and documenting calls.

Some shifts may be overnight, weekends, holidays, with possible overtime. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and EMS certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
• CPR certification recommended
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification may be required depending on vacancy

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities
