Job summary

911 Emergency Communications is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers in Alaska. You will receive calls for medical emergencies, confirm locations, gather information, and determine response priorities using approved dispatch protocols.

You may provide pre-arrival instructions and coordinate ambulance resources as assigned. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification; CPR may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification may be required before appointment.
• CPR certification may be required. EMT or paramedic credentials are not universal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities
