Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education seeks a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional processes for elementary students with IEPs, designing dynamic learning experiences in the learning center or classroom. Deliver targeted instruction, utilize educational software, and create comprehensive lesson plans aligned to standards.

The role requires IL licensure, crisis management readiness, and experience with differentiated instruction and co-teaching in alternative education

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
IL professional educator (PEL) credential (current or in process).
IL state SSE or LBS1 credential (current or in process).
Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
Experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education or behavioral health settings.
Experience with IEPs and ensuring compliance for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

Create an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
Establish a PBIS-based classroom climate with clear expectations and positive group interactions.
Implement PBIS strategies, rewards, and consequences consistently.
Track student progress, maintain files, and generate comprehensive progress reports.
Deliver differentiated instruction individually or in co-teaching to meet IEP goals.
Adapt curricular content to diverse learning styles and guide staff on differentiation methods.
Use varied instructional methods and educational software to engage diverse learners.
Manage student caseloads and develop/update IEPs and interventions.
Prepare detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and objectives.
Maintain an organized, safe classroom and manage materials efficiently.
Stay informed on research-based practices in special education and related areas.
Respond to feedback from evaluations and pursue ongoing professional growth.
Support the school with additional duties as assigned.
